“Second visit to the stunning Henfaes Isaf and it was better than we remember. This time introduced my brother and sister in law too. Lovely welcome basket on arrival. The cottage itself is characterful and spacious but for us it’s the garden and surroundings that make this cottage second to none. This was helped by a week of pure sunshine. So much wildlife , so peaceful and quiet, we never wanted this holiday experience to end. We will be back again for sure !!”

We were endlessly charmed by the cottage and the surrounding area. One of the coziest, most peaceful stays we have ever experienced. We loved seeing sheep and pheasants in the fields around the cottage, going for scenic hill walks, trying local restaurants (based on the excellent recommendations provided in the guidebook), cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoying a fire in the evenings. Ian and Moyra also were very responsive and quick to help when we had some car trouble. Overall, couldn’t recommend highly enough and we can’t wait to return.

What a stay to say the least. This is by far the nicest residence we’ve had the pleasure to stay in. On arrival the keys were easy to locate and although it was midnight, the true beauty of Henfaes was still visible.
Inside, as you walk in, it’s truly a feeling of serenity. The living room, kitchen and dining room are styled tastefully with a perfect balance of traditional and modern amenities.
As you walk upstairs the experience warms further as you discover the three bedrooms that all feel like their own luxury private spaces.
Waking up the first morning with a field of sheep visible and a lovely sunrise was the right way to kick off our weekend away.
Snacks and drinks were provided in the kitchen as well as plenty of cutlery.
Definitely recommend this to anyone considering and want to say a special thank you to Ian and Moyra who were lovely hosts and always easy to get a hold of!

I think this was my 127th Airbnb and it’s my all time favorite, or at least in the top three! The house has so much character, it’s absolutely stunning and incredibly cozy… truly never wanted to leave. I did do the hike to the hilltop castle nearby, highly recommended. Also just walking the path that continues beyond the house. Sitting by the fire with a glass of wine (they even provided a bottle) was the best!! Everything is perfect, this is a treasure you won’t regret booking.

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cottage! From the moment we arrived, it felt like a little home away from home — spotless, cosy, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our visit extra special. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the garden was peaceful and private — perfect for morning coffee or winding down in the evening.
The location was ideal — quiet and relaxing, yet close enough to explore the local area easily. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and responsive, offering great local tips and making sure everything was perfect throughout our stay.
We can’t recommend this cottage highly enough and would come back in a heartbeat. It’s clear how much care and attention goes into making guests feel welcome. Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Amazing serene place to stay, lots of character, lots of walks and a great getaway for nature. Beautiful views and nestled perfectly between Eryri NP and Clwydian range & Dee valley. The house was spotless and kept its rustic farmhouse feel and seeing the old tools, hooks and other bits was very interesting. My favourite part had to be sitting outside in the garden watching the sunset with a drink, definitely a memory I won’t forget for some time.

We had an amazing week at Ian and Moyra’s place could have stayed longer. The area was so peaceful with the sheep bleating and the birds singing. Everywhere we visited was about an hour away so we managed to soak up Wales in the sunshine. Our toddler loved the playroom and outside toys made available and was in tears when we left as he had so much fun there. The house was remarkable and lots of little touches made it feel like home. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Moyra and Ian were wonderful hosts from start to finish. Excellent communication and superb information covering all questions and queries.
The house was immaculate in a beautifully isolated location surrounded by countryside and friendly sheep. Perfect location to see all the sights nearby we visited Snowdon, the north coast and a couple of zip world sites and were never more than an hour away.
The house has everything you could need and wish for. I highly recommend this property.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Henfaes Isaf! The farmhouse was the perfect retreat to relax and recharge—peaceful, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by nature. Everything was exactly as described, if not better. We stayed with our 4-month-old baby and were so pleased to find the house thoughtfully equipped and very baby-friendly, which made our stay even more comfortable. The location is ideal for exploring north Wales, but also perfect if you just want to unwind and enjoy the quiet countryside. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would happily return. Highly recommended!

I can’t recommend Moyra and Ian’s cottage highly enough. The location is stunning, peaceful and a great for walking and exploring this part of Wales. The cottage had everything we needed and the garden is really stunning. We we’re lucky with the weather and when we weren’t out walking or sightseeing we spend all our time in the garden. The only downside was we we weren’t there long enough! We could easily have stayed another week. Thanks for sharing your cottage with us.

We had a lovely stay at Henfaes Isaf. It’s a beautiful and peaceful setting. The space has real character and charm and the garden surround & fields were really great to explore. We went with a young baby and toddler and it felt like an idyllic hideaway. We really enjoyed the sun room and open fire in the evening. The bedrooms were ample and very comfortable. It was a good location to exploring Bala & Llangollen and we enjoyed the drives through the Snowdonian mountain range. Ian & Moyra were quick to communicate & gave thorough directions to the property. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

We loved our stay in this cosy cottage in the Welsh countryside. We went during February half term with our 4 year old daughter and we were lucky with the weather most of the week which meant we were able to enjoy some walks in the surrounding countryside. The cottage is nice and peaceful as it is fairly isolated. There was also plenty of toys and games to keep our daughter and us busy during the couple of rainy days. The cottage was very cosy with a stocked fireplace which made for a relaxing stay. Moyra and Ian provided lots of information for the local area as well so that we could enjoy our day trips.

Beautiful cottage set in a tranquil setting with stunning surrounding garden front & back. The local village was perfect with the Blue Lion pub & postoffice/Spar shop both with friendly service. The cottage was well positioned for visits to many historic sites, towns and country walks. We had a fantastic time with visits to Llangollen, Lake Vyrnwy & Dinas Bran fort. We will definitely return next year and would highly recommend this accommodation to all, well equipped & clean with a great feel and character.

“Family getaway. This place has got so much nature surrounding it, very peaceful. Lovely walks, easy drive to restaurants or to use the historic railway, charming cottage. Very well stocked, i.e. dishwasher tablets I discovered on the last day. Games and games room, lots of DVDs, wood and coal and fire lighter and kindling, nothing extra needed. Washing machine and detergent, just perfect I recommend if you’re looking for a break away from it all.”

“Moyra and Ian’s place is a special gem. It’s an historic family home in the heart of the Welsh countryside. The hosts are so kind and considerate – from their welcome emails and the local food they left us. The kids had an absolute ball – the playroom was a hit and we couldn’t get them off the swing either. We even managed a family walk to the waterfall with minimal complaints from our 4 year-old! A fantastic location too if you want to walk/kayak on the Dee or just enjoy the wonderful Welsh surroundings. It’s a hugely special place and we hope to be back. Would highly recommend.”

“What a wonderful stay! This house is spectacular, we loved reading through all of the history of the home. They old pictures are really neat to see, you can tell the amount of work that went in to what it is today. Each room was beautiful and had all the things we needed to relax in the country. All of the toys for kids was so sweet as well, our two year old had a ball with all of the sports rackets and such! We went on so many beautiful walks around the lanes as well as through the fields. We would absolutely love to come back again.”

“This was our third stay, love the seclusion and quietness of the place. As always had a great week, plenty of attractions within an hours drive and nice walks from the doorstep . The house always looks well kept and just a nice place to get away for a week.”

“We had a great stay at Henfaes Isaf. Easy to check in and lovely and warm when we got in. The location is stunning and very private, with lots of beautiful quirks as it has lots of history. There was great welcome pack including Welsh cakes! Also coal and firewood. The TV was good and we used our Netflix easily with it. There is plenty to do and see in the area (you have to drive obviously). Moyra recommendeda great restaurant in Llangollen and there are others in the info book in the house. We also did a winery and castle tour as well as a train ride.. Definitely recommend!”

“We booked Henfaes Isaf for a new year’s getaway and it exceeded our expectations. The house really is stunning. The weather wasn’t kind to us, we had torrential rain the whole stay but it didn’t spoil the trip as the house is so cosy and warm, the perfect place to snuggle up with a book in front of the open fire or cook a lovely meal and use the beautiful dining room. Moyra and Ian have thought of everything you could need. Lots of crockery and cooking utensils, fabulous utility room, towels, and blankets. Although the house is old the bathroom is modern and the shower is good. The house is very clean, we played a lot of hide and seek with our son and didn’t find a speck of dust. We didn’t have reception with our phone networks but the internet worked fine. Lots of detailed information provided about the house and local attractions. The house is off the beaten track but managed the drive fine with the instructions provided and the views were worth it. We hope to stay again soon.”

“We visited the cottage over the October mid-term break and it was a wonderful stay. The cottage is beautiful, peaceful and very restful. All the family enjoy the stay, including playing board games by the open fire. It was also a great base for some climbing and hiking activities, as well as a trip to Chester for the day. It’s also pretty close to Lake Bala but we didn’t get to visit this time around. Overall, love it and would book again if we visit North Wales in the future.”

“The absolute perfect getaway. It was my girlfriends 30th and we wanted take our family away which included a 3 month year old so wanted somewhere family friendly in a peaceful setting. This stay ticked all those boxes and more. Henfaes Isaf is set in the most stunning surrounding. Moyra and Ian went above and beyond as hosts. Great communication and sent recommendations on where to eat and visit. We would love to come back. All we can say is thank you!!”

“Beautiful tranquil spot on the side of a hill. The first morning we stayed we simply sat outside in the sun watching woodpeckers! Cottage itself is warm, clean and very well appointed. Stunning furniture and clearly lots of love went into restoring the building. Highly recommended.”

“We stayed at this beautiful house for a bank holiday get-away and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. The house itself is just stunning and full of character. The location is amazing….surrounded by countryside and miles away from anyone. There was a lovely welcome pack and everything you could possibly need in the house. Communication prior to our visit was excellent and there was plenty of information about the local area. Highly recommended and we definitely hope to return.”

Great equipment in kitchen, lovely open fireplace in living room and atmospheric dining room with lovely Welsh dresser. Bedrooms beautifully furnished. Walks immediately from the house to places with spectacular views. The cottage itself is full of history and all the amenities you would need. However, there is plenty to explore on the surrounding countryside, beautiful walking, some great places to eat and plenty of outdoor activities and watersports if you are adventurous, Ian and Moyra were great hosts and always available to provide information and check we had what we needed. It was very cold outside when we arrived, and Ian made sure that the heating had been put on nice and early so that it was cosy and warm when we arrived. Communication was brilliant. “This wonderful cottage is secluded, with no neighbours visible and has great views. It is obviously very old in parts but has been modernised throughout, has all mod cons, and is kept very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our 3 teenage kids and if they had been younger the kids playroom would have been most useful. There are lots of interesting antiques scattered throughout the house which gave it an old world atmosphere – however with central heating and Wifi. We hope to be coming back there in the future.”

“What a lovely place! The cottage has been lovingly restored and looked after with lots of details that are only noticed after a few days. All we needed was here from clingfilm to a drying room. The local walks are good (and on the doorstep) and further afield we enjoyed the white water rafting at Bala.”
